Soprano Harriet Fraser’s passion for music began in childhood and continued as she began to perform as a soloist while working as a family doctor in central London. Some years ago, she set medicine aside, turned to singing full-time, and quickly became prominent in her native England, gaining an enviable following for her concert, stage, and recital performances, in a wide breadth of repertoire, from Baroque to Contemporary.
Now a resident of Los Angeles, California, Harriet performs regularly as an oratorio and recital soloist, most recently participating in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Haydn’s Creation, Vivaldi’s Magnificat, Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s Magnificat at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, under conductor Grant Gershon. She also performed in Handel’s Messiah at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, China. Before moving to Los Angeles, Harriet had sung most of the major oratorio roles in the United Kingdom, including performances at the Three Choirs Festival, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, and with the City of London Sinfonia.
Currently a chorister and soloist with the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Harriet has worked under conductors Grant Gershon, Esa Pekka Salonen and Gustavo Dudamel. A regular performer with the Millenium Consort Singers under Martin Neary, she was featured as soloist in Britten’s Wedding Anthem in. Last season she was a featured soloist in Con Gioia’s final concert commemorating the 300th anniversary of C.P.E. Bach’s birth.
