Shanon Zusman is adjunct professor of viola da gamba and violone at the University of Southern California and Claremont Graduate University. He holds a D Doctorate in Musical Arts in Early Music Performance from the USC Thornton School of Music, where he studied with James Tyler. Shanon became interested in early music and the history of the double bass in particular while studying with José Vázquez in Vienna, Austria, on a Fulbright grant. He has appeared with the Bach Collegium San Diego, Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra, Camerata Pacifica Baroque, Los Angeles Bach Society, Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra, and Concordia Clarimontis. Shanon has taught at the national Conclave of the Viola da Gamba Society of America since 2006 and coaches the southern California chapter of the society, Viols/West. He also teaches courses in Music Appreciation and Music Fundamentals at Santa Monica College and College of the Canyons.
